Why Edison NEXT hydrogen?

As a strategic partner of businesses and communities, Edison NEXT develops integrated projects all along the value chain. This is thanks to the know-how we ha’ve gained as an operator present in the entire electricity and gas supply chain, to our proven experience in implementing and operating complex projects and also to our powerful partnership with McPhy, an international manufacturer of electrolysers with production facilities in Italy.

For industry

We work with customers in hard-to-abate industries to identify and develop initiatives to decarbonize their processes. We design and build electrolysis plant for the production of green hydrogen they can use directly in their production facilities.

For sustainable mobility

We produce green hydrogen to supply service stations used by heavy and light means of transport (public and private). We work with major national logistics operators to localize and build production and distribution hubs for road transport.

Types of hydrogen

Edison NEXT offers solutions based on green and blue hydrogen in line with the decarbonisation strategy.

Green hydrogen

Green hydrogen is obtained by a chemical process (electrolysis) that splits water into hydrogen and oxygen using electrical current from renewable source power plants.

Blue hydrogen

It is obtained from fossil fuels like natural gas, which is split into hydrogen and carbon dioxide by Steam Methane Reforming or Auto Thermal Reforming. The CO₂ is then captured and stored.
